I was fortunate to meet Suzanne Ciani last April and I’m just now posting the photos.
She appeared at the MOCAD gallery in Detroit and she played a great hour-long set in quadraphonic sound. What a nice lady.
She played a Buchla 200e along with an iPad and a few other other controllers.
What surprised me is that she CHECKS HER BUCHLA AS BAGGAGE when she flies. Her response to my horror was “well if it breaks, it breaks.”
The crowd loved her discussion of a career in electronic music and the sound was, of course, incredible.
Here’s a short video from the show, where you can see how she used the iPad as a panning controller within the quad audio space.
The documentary about her career, “A Life In Waves,” is starting to make the rounds. Go check out the website to see if you’re lucky enough to watch it in your town. http://www.alifeinwaves.com/
